Rhinebeck was almost the platonic ideal of everything Rhinebeck needs to be. We had downpours of rain on Friday which made driving interesting, and also the leaves were this odd combination of both being past peak and not having it hit yet. But the weather on Saturday and Sunday was lovely, I bought many pretty things, I spent time with good friends, and I got to make friends with some Tunis sheep.
I took Monday and today off for recovery time. This is both managing my spoons as well as knowing that post-Rhinebeck I’ll want time to play with the new things that I got. This time it was spinning. Lots and lots of spinning. Mind you it’s probably for the best that I have to go to work tomorrow to give my hands a rest.
One of the things that makes trips like this great for me is having hotel roommates that understand that I need to pace myself and that I need recovery time from day to day. Being able to grab a nap to refresh my brain is helpful, and it’s also good to have quiet time for general decompressing.
On the whole I left Rhinebeck feeling very happy, and grateful. Also lucky.

You nap. I tend my pretend farm with my pretend sheep. It all works out.
And we can both raid each other’s stuff in case of zombie attack.
Every year I have to miss this. I keep thinking next year… =P
At least I get to go to Great Barrington for a couple of gigs a year. There is a SHEEP! farm near by and some fantastic yarn shops.
I’m glad you had a good time. It’s so important to give yourself a break once in while. =)
It’s a good break. Which I very much needed. Plus I got to meet Tunis sheep!
Sounds like a good time! Smart to take the day after off to recover. Even fun events are exhausting. I do love pretty yarn and things! Can’t wait to see what you make and hope you post photos.
Yeah, I had to learn that even fun stuff can be taxing. This after many Christmas preparations where I gave myself a migraine doing stuff that I loved.
